CorporateTime is a proprietary calendar server system produced by Oracle, who acquired the company that made it, Steltor.
Ruby/CorporateTime is a Ruby language extension that serves as a wrapper to the CorporateTime Calendar API (CAPI). Ruby/CorporateTime's purpose is to allow interaction with CorporateTime servers via the Ruby programming language.
One possible application of this library is to write a program to display your agenda for the coming week, without needing to resort to the CorporateTime GUI. In fact, the tar archive contains an example program for this very purpose.
Another example is to use it to search for the first available one hour time slot on your colleague's agenda and book that for a meeting. I actually do this at work, where it's handy to find and book sessions with our on-site massage therapists. (Yes, I know we're spoilt!)

· In order to use this software, you should have the CAPI libraries installed on your computer. These can be obtained from Oracle. To build from source, you'll also need the ctapi.h header file, once again available from Oracle.
· Ruby/CorporateTime has been verified to work with versions 2.0 and 2.5.1 of the CAPI libraries, and with Steltor CorporateTime server versions 5.2 and 5.4, plus Oracle CorporateTime server 9.0.4.8 (standalone). Both the client and the server were running Linux in these tests.
· The alpha status of Ruby/CorporateTime should be taken to mean that the calling interface to methods may change over time, not that the functionality is barely implemented or that the code is given to crashing. On the contrary, it's quite robust and the archive comes with several demonstration programs to show you how to set, retrieve and delete meetings.
· You should avoid using version 2.5 of the CAPI, as I have experienced problems with this version. Use 2.5.1 instead.
· As of August 2005, Ruby/CorporateTime is no longer actively maintained. This is chiefly because I no longer have access to a CorporateTime server to test the code, but also because the project has reached the point whereby all basic functionality has been implemented.
· I would still be willing to consider patches for integration, but it would probably be best if the project were to be taken under the wing of a new maintainer who will continue where I have left off. Please contact me if you are interested.

· A problem with all-day events in CTime::Agenda::Event#start_time= has been fixed.
